Attention all children’s pastors:
As you enjoy your week at Children’s Pastors’ Conference, begin to write a story about your experiences at CPC. You need to communicate all the benefits of what you have learned, who you have meet, who you have reconnected with, what you have seen, and anything else that happens to you. It doesn’t have to be a dissertation, but a brief summary of your day. Then you need to share it with your senior pastor, church board/elders, and any other staff.
I know and you know that no one may read it. However, if just one person reads it, it can make a difference in your ministry. At one church that I served at, the church treasurer always took the time to read my reports and commented to me about what I had experienced. Now when it came time to ask for budget funds for training, the treasurer was much more open to hearing about the importance of it, because of all the information that I had shared.
So sit down and write a few lines tonight so that you can remember all the wonderful things you experienced today.
My day began with a wonderful cinnamon roll with my friend.
We wandered around the hotel to get our bearings for the week.
We went to the Go Fish table to sign up to be the 100 participants for the music video recording in the evening which also meant we got to sit in the front of the ballroom for the opening general session.
The Resource Center opened this afternoon. VBS materials, children’s church curriculum, new small group/large group curriculum…
Rehearsal for Go Fish. Too fun! Go Fish even sang another song for us after the rehearsal. Go Fish guys are serving as the emcees this week.
Dinner first and then Go Fish singing “Kickin’ It Old School”. Too fun!
Lots of commercials of course at the opening general session. Standard Publishing was the sponsor for the evening. I really like their concept for VBS – Hero Headquarters, Where Kids Join Forces with God! Promo materials say
At Hero Headquarters, kids will meet unlikely Bible heroes who are often overlooked. In fact, we don’t know a single one of their names! They were not famous leaders or called by God to perform amazing miracles-yet their small acts were used by God to do wonderful things!
Helping kids discover if they’re willing to be used by God in any situation, no matter how big or how small, they can make a difference. With God’s power at work, they can be heroes right where they are!
Check it out Hero Headquarters.
Michael Neale led 2000+ in worship that included How Great Thou Art, How Great is Our God. Love to worship with children’s pastors.
Tim Hawkins was introduced with the phrase as “gifted as he is twisted” or maybe it was “as twisted as he is gifted”. Whatever it was, he was hysterical. Nothing was off-limits in his repertoire such as
chick-fil-a
Prince
children
parents
driving in a car with kids
non-denominational churches
Alabama
songs famous singers might write/sing when they have children
testamints
different versions and translations of the Bible
snuggies
Day One of CPC completed.

Looking foward to Day Two!
Have to check out all the breakout sessions and
